The Board of Trustees of the Byron Union School District has adopted an updated policy regarding Independent Study as an alternative instructional strategy by which students in grades K-8 may reach curriculum objectives and fulfill educational requirements within the customary timeframe. Independent study shall offer a means of individulalizing the educational plan for students whose needs may be best met through study outside of the regular classroom setting.

Safety Issues
Family Emergencies
Immunization
Suspension or Expulsion
Medical or Psychological Issues*
*Student chooses Independent Study in place of Home/Hospital Instruction
Examples of medical issues include mono, chicken pox, medical treatments, contagious diseases etc.
