Independent study is a program that helps students learn independently. In this program, students must still learn all the information that a student would learn if in a regular classroom setting while being independent from a teacher. This can be difficult for some people so we have provided some guidelines that will help you be a successful independent study student.
1)Always show up and be on time to your scheduled appointments. It is very difficult for your teacher to reschedule you without affecting his/her other students. 2)Make sure you have everything you need for the week before youleave your appointment. If you find out you are missing some worksheets or other assignments, it is your responsibility to call, email or visit your teacher to get what you need.DO NOT show up at your next appointment with the excuse that you'didn't receive it.' 3)Always have your work completed and organized for your teacher. If you do not understand something that was assigned to you, it is YOUR responsibility to call, email or visit your teacher BEFORE your appointment. You will not be 'excused' for turning in a late assignment for any reason 4)Start your independent study assignments as soon as you get home. This way you will remember what your teacher explained to you about your lessons. 5)Set aside 4-5 hours each day to do the independent study.Be consistent and disciplined about your study schedule.Remember, if you were in a regular classroom, you would be there for 5 hours a day
If you have any questions, please call or email your teachers. We look forward to a successful educational program in Independent Study!
